Saving private Tourette: How to save both Voerman sisters in Sibling Rivalry
By The vintage feeling
I heard two neonates talking the other night: “There's an interesting pair of faces wandering about in Santa Monica. Τhe owners of the Asylum club, the famous Voerman sisters. The luscious Jeanette and the frigid Therese. Rumor has it that, sometime in the past, those two had a serious quarrel over the dominance of Santa Monica. Some cruel things have been heard, but you know, mostly rumors”. Oh, my young brethren, how much fun do I have when I hear a neonate, sitting right next to my obfuscating body in a bar, speculating ecstatic about stories she's never heard before. Well, your Nossie here knows this “quarrel” only too well. And guess what? I'm willing to tell you everything about it. For a price, of course, mhm? Be alert, though! Serious spoiling is to be done!

Know your history
The Sibling rivalry, commonly known as the "Tourette Incident", refers to an occurrence that took place at the Asylum club back in the early '00s between the Voerman sisters and a legendary vampire. She managed to triumph in that ordeal by convincing both of the sisters that they can coexist in the same body. In order to do that she had to converse with both of the Lunatics. Right from the beginning she understood that Jeannette was the avatar of lust and thus seduction was needed in order to mesmerize that persona. With Therese, the avatar of dominance, on the other hand, the vampire had to call up her diplomatic prowess. In the final stage of the illness, where the two personalities struggled for control over the same corpus, the Kindred had to use her persuasion.
The hiatus and the hypothesis
Let's say that you want to relive the incident with a vampire of your own. The gender of your vampire does not matter (you can complete the Sibling rivalry with both male and female characters) but the clan does, due to the insanity of the childer of Malkav (typographical presentation and meaning allusions) and disfigurement of Sewer Rats. Therefore, I will guide the aformentioned clans through the Sibling Rivalry separately from the rest.
The reward
By saving both of the sisters you will get 3 points of experience, two more than letting one of them die. “Then why should I even bother with all these numbers and guides and builds? For just two more points”? Keep up the witticism and I while show you the miracle of Diablerie, you lazy @#$&^/%.
It's a drama after all...
This guide is presented as if it were the script of a play. I have written down only the lines in which your vampire has to choose her words wisely. For the responses which are not covered here, feel free to choose any sentence you prefer; they do not change the outcome of the incident.

As mentioned before, in order to save them both, you have to be kinky and diplomatic. Right from the beginning you have to please both of the sisters with no complaints. Be sensual with Jeanette and obedient with Therese. Give the Hotel amulet to Therese and choose all the sensual (pink) lines when talking to Jeanette.

In the left side of the "script" you will notice a T which stands for Therese, J for Jeannette, M for Malkavian, N for Nosferatu and C for the rest of Camarilla clans. Whenever you need to answer effectively with the help of a stat such as persuasion, you will see a parenthesis with a number, indicating the level of the necessary stat.

Generally, seduction will be needed with Jeanette and must be at level 2, while the persuasion statistic must be at level 4 and won't be important until the climax of the quest, where the blue lines become available. Italics indicate seductive responses and underlined letters persuasive ones.

As for my fellow Nosferatu, it is actually possible to save both personae: Put 4 points in persuasion, as usual. Since you cannot raise your seduction, when you converse with Jeanette for the first time, choose the normal lines that seem to flatter her. As for your second encounter (after obtaining the pendant), do not give her the pendant but be sure to answer to her as I presented in the relevant section of the guide ("Talking to Jeanette in Asylum after obtaining the pendant").

→UP 9.7 Statistic-related note←
As of UP 9.7, players no longer need to invest 2 points in seduction in order to ameliorate their relationship with Jeanette or Therese; just the 4 points in persuasion will do. Nevertheless, I will not delete the seduction prerequisite from the guide in order to help those who have an older version of the Unofficial patch installed.

Here is an example of how your social statistics (seduction and persuasion only) should be filled in order to save both of the sisters:
The eternal dilemma
“To patch or not to patch?” In my early gaming days I paid no attention to modding and patching (internet access was a challenge too). Unfortunately, VtM: Bloodlines without a patch is a challenge of nerves and mental stability. So click on this link [www.patches-scrolls.de] and download the latest patch in order to play the game with ease and peace. Do not forget to thank Wesp5, because without him Bloodlines unpatched would be a nightmare! For the record, when I first played the game unpatched many years ago, I was able to save both of the Voerman by taking advantage of bugs and glitches, without the need of persuasion or seduction. In this walkthrough though I completed the quest 4 times. Two with the older “golden patch” installed, (as Malkavian and Tremere) and two more with the latest unofficial patch (as Malkavian and Gangrel ), by playing both of the versions, simple and plus. So, in conclusion, this guide is accurate with any of the previously mentioned patches. If you find it inaccurate in any way though, feel free to crucify me in direct sunlight.
Meeting Jeanette in Asylum 's entrance hall
Jeanette: What do we have here? Another scrumptious young plaything straight out of life and into my club? You smell new, (little girl,) like fabric softener dew on freshly mowed Astroturf. Ooh, I'm not frightening you, am I, duckling?
Malkavian: I see before me a beauty who shares the madness of my mind...(seduction 2)
Camarilla: Frightening isn't the word I'd use. . .exciting is more like it. (seduction 2)
*Malkavian only*
Greetings, daughter of Janus...
*Malkavian only*
J: Ha! Wait until Therese hears that!
M: You are the whiteness, she of alabaster and ivory...
*Malkavian only*
J: Ha! Wait until Therese hears that I am white to her black. She' ll be absolutely furious. Of course, I won't be wearing white to any weddings but... we can talk about that later.

M:Fear and love are two sides of the same coin. . . (seduction 2)
J: I can tell you and I are going to get along just like fire hoses.
M: You mean we're both rolled up and twisted?
C: Fire hoses?
J: When we get turned on, there's bound to be flames.
M: Burn, baby, burn. Give me the pleasure of your label...
C: That's what I was thinking. What's your name?
J: I'm the finger down your spine when all the lights are out. I'm the name on all the men' s room walls. When I pout, the whole world tries to make me smile. And everyone always wants to know, who...is...that girl?
M: My heart beats like a thousand primal drums. Give me the gift of your name...
C: Aren't you the tease? Got a name I can remember you by?
J: I... am... Jeanette. An this bit of chaos crammed in a certifiable giggle is my club. Oh, I'd just love to give you funny feelings all night, sweetheart, but I really must trouble with some business. We 'll reunite sweet and soon, I promise.
M: Until our shattered selves once again collide.
C: Soon can't come soon enough.

Meeting Therese in her office/bedroom:
T: Please, come in. I do apologize for my sister's crassness if it made you uncomfortable. She 's unabashedly scandalous, but … in the club business, I suppose that kind of personality 's a necessary evil.
M: I could stomach her oozings no longer. You are Therese, the dark daughter?
C: I'm just glad she's gone. You are Therese?
T: Therese Voerman, yes. I'm the proprietor of this club, and the only personn in this city whose good side it's in your best interest to stay on. What brings you to Santa Monica?
M: Call off your conflict with the worm, dark one. . .
C: I need you to call off the feud with Bertram Tung.
T: Tung's exile is self-imposed, I assure you. But then, what reason would I have not to hate that loathsome Nosferatu scoundrel. Bloody Nosferatu. They are so... unclean.
M: What has brought your darkness upon him?
C: Why do you hate him?
T: He meddles in my affairs. He's a bad influence on my sister, and she on him. If you were in my place, would you let him compromise your authority? You most certainly would not. I'd quite like it if I never had to hear that name again.
M: Please tell the worm that all is forgiven. . .
C: Then can you put out the word that you've got no feud with him?
T: Why would I do that? Let him think I mean to kill him- that way, I don't have to worry about him sabotaging everything. Do you realize how his subterfuge makes me look to the Camarilla?
C: That's unfortunate, but I do need to see him.
M: I am no politicking blood-sucker. I need to see the worm. . .
T: Hmm... I'd be willing to put the word out that my grievances with Tung have been swept under the rug, but in return, you 'll have to help me remove a particulary burdensome spirit from a property I'm looking to invest in.
M: Speak your quest, dark one. . .
C: Gladly. What do I have to do?
T: Rumor is that a personal item of a ghost's may be used to draw it out or excise it from its haunt. While I don't put a lot of shock in hearsay, it's my last option. So I want you to go to the Ocean House hotel, find an item of the spirit's, and bring it back.
M: If you will give word that to the worm that he is not wanted, I will go.
C: I'll do it if you promise to call off the feud.
T: Oh, I fully intend so. You 'll find that dealing with me, on the whole, is appreciably more predictable than dealing with some of the egomaniacs that are my peers. So long as our business doesn't go sour, my word is gold.
M: Your words are like the reddest nectar, dark daughter. Farewell.
C: I can respect that. And I appreciate it. Goodbye.
T: Before I forget, take this key. The only way to reach the Ocean House this time of night is through a tunnel in the sewers. You will need that key to open the gate for that tunnel.
M: I will do what needs be done, dark one. . .
C: If that's what it takes to get the job done.
T: If you 'll excuse me, I've got situations to be straight.
M: Then I am off to the House on the Ocean.
C: Right. Goodbye.
Talking to Jeanette in Asylum after obtaining the pendant
J: How odd, I was just having naughty thoughts about you. You made quite an impression earlier. Did you come up just to cheer lonely, little me?
M: All of my selves are intoxicated with you, white mistress...
C: Yes, as a matter of fact, I did. I couldn't stop thinking about you.
J: Really? Do I often pogostick through your thoughts wearing nothing but a smile? Be honest... or don't.
M: You haunt my fark dreams, but what deeds do I do in your own? (seduction 2)
C: All the time, Jeanette. What do I do in your thoughts? (seduction 2)
N: Don't you find me a little... ugly?
*Nosferatu only*
J: On the inside, we are all dead meat, kitten.
N: Glad someone understands.
J: What all suede kittens do... on hands and knees, you lap up the milk of me... and we purr, kitten, like dragonflies buzzing around frog belies.
M: Your words make me blood crazy and feverish, lost in a remembered life lust
C: Kinky.
J: So... Therese told me you might be back with something for her. Do you have it with you?
M: Your sister only receives this treasure...
C: I'm not giving it to anyone but Therese.
J: I'm not just some silly doll, you know. All my life my sister's made me out to be a joke. She told you I was an embarrassment, didn't she? That I couldn't tie my shoes, let alone hold on to something for her. Is that it?
M: Hold on to the knowledge that you mean nothing to me.
C: No. Please, calm down.
J: She's always belittling me. She's the smart one, she's the favorite, she's the successful one. Well, it's not fair! I'm not a fool! This club's success is just as much my doing as it is hers!
M: My heart is open, but your hand will not contain your desire.
C: I understand. But I still can't give it to you.
J: Do you understand what it's like to have your own flesh and blood ripping you apart on a daily basis for two lifetimes? Can you?
M: Forgiveness, white daughter, but this is for the other only.
C: I'm sorry to hear that Jeanette, but I really need to give it to Therese.
J: Fine. You hold on to it. Hmm... since you were so willing to brave that big, spooky place for my darling sister, how about doing a teensy, tiny favor little, troubled me?
M: What deed could I do to amuse the rainy-day child?
C: What would put a smile to that face?
J: The whole event's been set up by a Kindred trying to establish their own power clique in our city. And we can't let that happen, can we? So I need some brilliant young upstart to spoil the milk.
M: For you I would face the flame at noontime... (seduction 2)
C: For you anything (seduction 2)
J: I promise this won't take long. Take this knife. Give the paintings in the gallery a good slashing. Don't get caught and don't turn it into a massacre. And steal the charity box, would you? Buy yourself something velvet.
M: Slashing is now my existence.
C: Alright. I'll go slash the paintings.
J: I'm sure Therese will be thrilled to honor your agreement when you get back. But in the meantime, get to the museum and ruin those paintings, then pay me a visit. I want to hear all about it... Hurry up, I can only amuse myself for so long.
M: I will think of you only as I slash these splatterings...
C: I'd never intentionally keep you waiting, Jeanette. Goodbye.

Talking to Therese after slashing the paintings/defeating blood guardian
T: There's only one problem. If Tung gets word that I threatened Jeanette, which he most certainly already has, it's not likely he'll believe me. So, in order to call off the feud, you're going to have to convince Jeanette to forgive me first.
M: How might this deed be done?
C: And how do I do that?
T: I asked her to me at the Surfside Diner, to reconcile, but I'm busy with the club and my other endeavors. I'd like you to go to the diner and promise her that I don't plan to take any action against her. Wait for her in the back booth, near the phones.
M: This is more convoluted than my psyche. I will find her, and then we finish this. . .
C: If the Baron of Santa Monica wants her sister back, I will get her sister back.
Confronting the sisters/dealing with dementia (Sibling Rivalry)
J: You never gave me any credit for anything, Therese! I was the one calling the shots! Bertram was dancing on my leash! How does it feel it to know that I beat you?
M: From where this hateful quarrel? (persuasion 4)
C: Why are you both fighting? (persuasion 4)
T: Don't finish that sentence or you're dead!
M: Both sides need to cease this conflict. . . (persuasion 4)
C: Both of you stop. (persuasion 4)
T: Shut up! Just shut up!
M: Become mute both mouths! Both sides need to cease this conflict. . . (persuasion 4)
C: Stop it right now, both of you. (persuasion 4)
J: Is that right, dear? If it wasn't for me, you would have never survived this long. Remember? They tried to separate us, but I refuse. I chose this life and brought you into it so that we could stay together. Obviously, you've forgotten.
M: You must both learn to live in the same skin... (persuasion 4)
C: If you both want to continue to exist, you're going to have to live with
each other.
(persuasion 4)
T: And you're a wild animal! You'll rub up against anything that'll take you in for the night, then, when you're stuffed and bored, you bite the hand that fed you.
M: If you could learn to join hands, think of the strength you command. . . (persuasion 4)
C: Both of you have been working against the other. Together, you'd be a power. (persuasion 4)
T: Father loved me. I was a good girl. I always did what I was told. You always hated that he loved me. You disobeyed him. You brought men home, when he wasn't there. You were an awful daughter to him.
M: The past is a worn garment, Dispose of it... (persuasion 4)
C: That's all in the past. Forget about it. (persuasion 4)
J:As I recall, he died with a smile on his face.
M: History's shadow need not fall on you both...
C: No matter what happened, you two need each other to move on.
T: Why? How will this time be any different?
M: Work together, and your power will more than double...
C: Think of how powerful you could both be if you worked together.
T: You do have a way with words, sister. You're right, I'm not in the same class, am I? I mean, murderers are so respectful these days.
M: Dark one, let the light carry more of the burden...
C: Therese, let Jeanette have more responsibility.
J: Of course. You're the only one who can secure zoning permits and shake hands. I'd never be able too keep up!
M: White mistress, stand not in the way of the dark one's plans...
C: Jeanette, stop sabotaging your sister's plans.
J: And you deserve it!
M: Run this house as a family, and you both may unlive another day...
C: If you'll call a truce and run this place equally, there's no need to kill
each other.
T: If she would start behaving like a rational adult!
M: Was there never a time when you looked each other in the eye?
C: You both must have gotten along at one time.

*Now ask them to hand you the gun and they will spare each other's lives*
M: Give me boom-stick, dark one...
C: Give me the gun, Therese.

Intercourse with Jeanette
That's it. Now, you can walk out of the Asylum, proud of your achievement, having surpassed yet another obstacle, feeling powerful and determined (for a short while, until you are beaten to death by Sabbat thugs seconds after visiting Downtown, thereby coming to your senses).
I'm aware that in the plus version of the unofficial patch you can choose certain lines and actions in order to sleep with Jeanette before confronting the split personality. But, as you can read in the headline, this guide does not cover that part. I've completed the walkthrough keeping in mind that players care mostly for a successful completion of the "Sibling rivalry" quest. Another reason is that I prefer Therese as a sexual partner. The pseudo-bonny student stuff were never my style, but anyway...

Not sure if it's just me, but having followed most of the guide and having 4 per and 2 seduction, still didn't get the option to get them to stop?

White mistress, stand not in the way of the dark one's plans...

Also, when handing Therese the locket after ruining the paintings, one time I got a Persuasion response, and, on restarting my run after many reloads leading to failure, on the second attempt I didn't. In both cases there was only one response. When I got the persuasive response, I could not save them both, and when I didn't, I could. Stealing the donations did not seem to affect it one way or the other. Make of this what you will.

Can confirm that Seduction is no longer necessary as of at least 11.4 version of the patch, only Persuasion 4. Seems you just have to follow this guide and choose the most deferential responses to substitute for the Seduction options - you'll know, they're generally still pretty flirty. I didn't feel like putting in the time to experiment with more neutral responses, but would be interesting to hear from anyone who's willing to try and exhaust the response possibilities.

Well written guide, but... can you write a guide teaching me how to dougie?
kram.yenevaek Jan 22, 2023 @ 1:59pm
With the latest patch (11.2) seduction is no longer required, just persuasion 4. I am unsure if flirty responses for Jeanette and obedient responses for Therese are also required, because I said what I could without the seduction. Thank you for the guide though, it was a big help

I'm playing with the Unofficial Patch installed, and absolutely needed seduction 2 as well as persuasion 4, just as the OP said. I tried to save both sisters with just persuasion four times to no avail. Only managed it by loading an earlier save and getting seduction 2.
Economic Terrorist May 15, 2022 @ 4:38pm
Really all you need is high persuasion.
