1989 Toyota Hilux Crew Cab SSR 4×4 5-Speed

This 1989 Toyota Hilux Crew Cab SSR 4×4 is a Japanese-market right-hand drive pickup that was imported by the selling dealer from Japan to the US in March 2020. It is finished in Red Pearl over gray cloth upholstery and powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Equipment includes mud flaps, aluminum running boards, 15″ steel wheels, an AM radio, power-adjustable side-view mirrors, a sliding rear window, and manually locking front hubs. It now shows under 44k kilometers (~27k miles), and recent service is said to include an oil change and replacement of the tires. This Hilux is now offered in California with an owner’s manual, a jack, a tool roll, importation documents, and a clean South Dakota title.

The truck is finished in Red Pearl and features mud flaps, aluminum running boards, power-adjustable side-view mirrors with chrome mirror caps, and Toyota-branded front window deflectors. Noted flaws include scratches and dents on the right-rear of the bed that have been touched-up. Close-up photos of the body, paint, and trim are provided in the gallery below.

Silver-finished 15″ steel wheels are mounted over manually-locking Aisin hubs up front and wear 30″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires showing 2020 date codes. A spare wheel is mounted beneath the bed.

The crew cab offers seating for five trimmed in gray cloth, along with matching door panel inserts and carpets protected by Hilux-branded black rubber floor mats. Equipment includes hand-crank windows, retractable cup holders, an AM radio, and a front center storage cubby, and a sliding rear window. A video tour of the interior is shown here.

Instrumentation includes a 160-km/h speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer, as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and battery voltage. The six-digit odometer shows just under 44k kilometers (~27k miles), approximately 200 of which were added by the seller.

The 2.0-liter 3Y inline-four is said to have been serviced in April 2020 with replacement of the oil, fuel filter, and air filter. A startup video can be viewed here.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and an 8″ rear end with 4.556:1 gearing. Additional underside images are provided in the gallery below.
